Fort Sheridan Historical Society

FSHS invites you to participate in our Annual Fundraiser to be held on August 7th at the Fort Sheridan Water Tower, Leonard Wood South, Highland Park, Il 60035. The Tours will be a guided, roughly 2 hour, outside walk with stops and historic commentary of the iconic buildings that are reminiscent of the many phases of the life of the Fort since its inception on March 3rd, 1887. Come walk with history as it unfolds before your eyes viewing the historic past.

 

This is a docent-led tour in small groups around the Historic District of the Fort with lots of interesting facts!

Open to anyone interested in learning more about Fort Sheridan and its history.  This casual walk around the Historic District of the Fort will stop outside a number of buildings and sites and provide many interesting details about their past and present.  The entire route is about 1 mile in length, entirely on paved sidewalks, and wheelchair accessible.

Tour groups will be kept intentionally small for safety and to assure all can hear and interact with the knowledgeable tour guide.  The number of tickets sold will therefore be limited.

Tours are on Saturday, August 7, 2021.  You will choose your desired tour time when you buy your tickets.

 

The adult ticket price for the entire tour is only $40 per person.  Students age 6 to 16 should use the STUDENT discount code when checking out to get the $15 ticket price.  Current members of the Society should use the discount code provided separately to them (simply enter it in the Discount Code box when checking out and the reduced price will be shown).

For Historians under the age of 6, while you are welcome, remember this could be a fairly long 2-hour walk.  Ask your adult to consider whether you would really enjoy the tour.

 

A number of the buildings on the tour are private homes.  Every effort will be made to respect the privacy of the owners while the tour passes by or describes the building.  This tour is entirely outdoors and will not be entering any buildings.

The tours will be held, rain or shine.  Please dress appropriately.  Ticket sales are final.  Attendees acknowledge there are always some risks and are responsible for their own safety on these tours.
